Compliance Issues for Subawards

Conflict of Interest or Financial Conflict of Interest

Conflict of interest or financial conflict of interest disclosures are required areas of compliance for most of our federally sponsored awards. Depending on the sponsor, the university may require that a subrecipient entity have an up-to-date policy concerning conflict of interest or the entity may choose to follow GW’s policy. Please contact your subaward sponsored project analyst for applicability.

Human Subjects Research

When a subrecipient will be conducting work with human subjects there must be an Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval prior to engaging in any of this type of work. The university requires that the IRB approval be available upon request.

Animal Studies

When a subrecipient will be conducting research with vertebrate animals there must be appropriate approval prior to engaging in any of that type of work. The university requires that the appropriate documentation be available upon request.
