The Office of Sponsored Projects works closely with a number of other offices at the George Washington University, including:

Research Administration Pods

George Washington University (GW) utilizes a “pod” shared services model for local sponsored research administration.  Each pod supports two or more schools and their affiliated research centers and institutes.

  •  Pods 1 & 2 provide pre-award support and manage post-award financial activities.
  •  Pod 3 provides pre-award support while school-based research administrators manage post-award financial activities.

Grants and Contracts Accounting Services (GCAS)

Grants and Contracts Accounting Services (GCAS) is responsible for sound financial management of sponsored projects, including establishing and administering financial policies and procedures, preparing and filing financial reports, issuing invoices, effort reporting and coordinating the annual single audit.

Procurement & Travel Services

Procurement & Travel Services serves faculty and staff by facilitating the timely acquisition of goods and services, in accordance with pertinent policies and regulations. They also provide services through iBuy+ Systems, including the Travel Booking tool.

GW Information Technology (GWIT)

GW Information Technology provides a number of resources for researchers, including consultation for determining data requirements at proposal stage, Colonial One High Performance Computing, data management support services and Capital Area Advanced Research and Education Network (CAAREN)

Division of Development and Alumni Relations

The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations within the Division of Development and Alumni Relations can assist researchers interested in applying for foundation grants.

Human Resource Management and Development

Human Resource Management and Development works with GW researchers to facilitate the process of hiring personnel.

Center for Undergraduate Fellowships and Research

Center for Undergraduate Fellowships and Research partners with the Office of the Vice Provost for Research for our annual Research Showcase. They are also available throughout the year to support undergraduate students in their research endeavors.

Office of Graduate Student Assistantships and Fellowships

The Office of Graduate Student Assistantships and Fellowships facilitates the process for adding Graduate Research Assistants (GRAs), Graduate Research Fellows (GRFs) and/or Graduate Fellows (GFs) onto sponsored projects.

Technology Commercialization Office

The Technology Commercialization Office (TCO) promotes and facilitates the transfer of GW innovations for the benefit of the university community and the public while leveraging GW resources by partnering with industry experts and entrepreneurs.

University Libraries

University Libraries is available to support GW researchers through their data services librarian and Data Management Plan tool and their insight regarding data archiving (services available at Gelman Library). Himmelfarb Library also offers a research portal for faculty in medicine and health sciences.

OVPR Offices

Within the Office of the Vice Provost for Research, a number of additional offices work to support research at GW, including the Office of Research Integrity and the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
