Proposal Components and Checklists

Each sponsor has a set of requirements that the principal investigator (PI) is expected to follow. On occasion, a sponsor may request additional requirements such as letters of support, cost-share or matching, institutional support/commitment or specific collaborations. The PI should prepare a proposal that meets both the sponsor’s requirements and the university’s guidelines for proposal development.

Proposal Submission Checklists

To facilitate the development of complete proposals and the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) review of the final proposal, we have developed proposal checklists that can be found below. The PI/department is highly encouraged to use the applicable checklist as a tool during the planning and writing stages of the proposal. The checklist will help the PI determine what is necessary, missing or incomplete before the proposal is routed to OSP for approval.
